Offering a curriculum based from the enriched Common Core Virginia State Standards

The World Academy offers and delivers an enriched Common Core Virginia State Standards based curriculum as an international perspective for students in preschool through Grade 10 (soon to be Grade 12) the curriculum is bases on Common Core standards and best practice research firmly underpinned by KSA’s cultural values.

The language of instruction at The World Academy is English. The Virginia State Standards emphasizes reading and the language art, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, English and Arabic languages for native and non-native speakers, and Islamic Education for Muslim students. Elementary students also receive instruction in Health, Physical Education, Computer Technology, Art and Music. Middle and high school students continue their studies in the core areas and choose from a wide variety of electives including computer technology, visual and performing arts, and world languages.

The school caters to parents seeking a program they recognize and trust and that delivers a high quality and progressive learning experience to their children. The program prepares students to attend preferred universities around the world.

Instructional objectives are clearly defined in all subject areas, but academic expectations are flexible enough to both support and challenge each individual learner. Homework is an important part of the educational process as a means of reinforcing and reviewing the daily classroom lessons. Instruction in all areas encourages students to grow as creative thinkers, critical thinkers and effective communicators. Technology, with internet access in classrooms and libraries, is integrated throughout our program.

Academically, The World Academy prepares the students to meet the challenges of a university education. In addition to a strong academic curriculum, the program emphasizes on the four core values of GEMS i.e. World Citizenship, Universal Values, Leadership Skills and Forward Thinking.

Beyond academics, The World Academy strives to instill in all students a positive attitude toward lifelong learning, an appreciation for cultural diversity, with higher and problem solving skills necessary to be successful in their future endeavors.
